Every time Mrs. Hough catches a student from her three classes showing genuine kindness to anyone at the school, she adds a warm fuzzy to their classroom jar. Last week, Mrs. Hough’s 4th-grade homeroom filled their jar to the top as she has witnessed bucket-filling words and actions from these students over the past couple of months. She is very proud of her homeroom class and appreciates all they do to create a culture of kindness around them. They will celebrate their success later this week and have already emptied their jar so they can start filling it with warm fuzzies again! 👌🏻🎉🩷 #kindnessmatters #snydertigers

More goals set and met! 🎯
Teachers and students at Snyder Intermediate have been working diligently to improve their skills.

These fourth and fifth-grade students set their sights on a goal and succeeded! We also want to recognize their hard-working teachers: fourth-grade math teachers, Mrs. Sorrells, Mrs. Neff, Mr. Watson, and Mr. Chesser, and fifth-grade science teachers, Ms. Beltran, Ms. Juarez, and Mr. Birks.

At Snyder Intermediate School, part of our vision is to celebrate academic excellence and goals to provide a roadmap to student success. We believe all students can grow, no matter their academic level.

Goal-getters are recognized after each unit test. Teachers set goals for students based on their previous year's STAAR performance to give students a target for growth. Students learn the importance of setting goals and the work required. Daily assignments and exit tickets provide a window into day-to-day understanding, but unit tests provide a deeper perspective of comprehension and retention. Ask your child about their goals. Be sure to look beyond the overall letter grade and regularly check your child's test grades in Skyward.

Together, we can help your child achieve their best. As always, reach out to us with any questions or concerns.

School Counselors
Do you think group work is helpful? Mastering math problems is more than just showing your work and getting the correct answer. When students can explain and help others understand, it solidifies concepts and demonstrates deeper understanding.

During the afternoon route, the driver of Bus 11 overheard a student make a concerning statement to another student. They immediately informed the school resource officer and administration, and the bus stopped at the intermediate school. Two students were interviewed and exited the bus. Their parents were notified of the situation. The rest of the students are safe and on their way home.

Students, teachers, and families should report any possible threat or concern to the right authorities. We appreciate the students and the bus driver who reported the situation promptly, enabling the authorities to respond quickly.

How to Report a Concern
If you observe any suspicious activity or have any concerns, report them immediately to the school administration or the police. For non-urgent concerns, you may use the “See Something, Say Something” form, which you can find at www.snyderisd.net/safety.

What do some teachers think about the MAP test? Mrs. Lewis, a 5th-grade teacher at Snyder Intermediate School, said, "The MAP test is a wonderful tool because it helps the teacher know exactly where the student is struggling. The test adapts to the student, so if the student gets a question incorrect, the questions will change to that student's reading level. If a student gets a question correct, the questions will become more difficult, thus challenging the student."
MAP results tell teachers what skills students already know, what skills they are ready to master, and what skills they’re ready to start learning. Since the MAP test has been given for several years, it also helps evaluate growth over time.
