Speech and Debate Team

History is being made yet again at Snyder High School!

Throughout SHS history, there have been 5 different speech and debate students represent SHS with 5 National appearances. This year, we have FIVE students representing SHS at the National Speech and Debate Association National Tournament in June! This is the most ever in the history of SHS.

We would also like to congratulate Ms. Tonya Powers, who was named District Assistant Coach of the Year for the Entire Tall Cotton District of NSDA!

Junior Sidni Hunter in Congress (House) after placing 2nd. Sidni also placed 1st in Informative Speaking, 5th in Lincoln Douglas Debate, and was a top qualifier for World School Debate. Although Sidni qualified for Nationals in four different events, she can only compete in one.

Senior Sha WIlson in Policy Debate (with Partner Cuauhtemoc Olvera). Sha also placed 11th in US Extemp and was a top qualifier for World Schools Debate.

Freshman Banks Allbright will also compete in a new event called Pro-Con Challenge. Banks will be the first Freshman in the history of SHS to compete at Nationals
