high school student's art

In honor of World Teachers' Day, the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) partnered with #TeachersCan to hold an art contest for high school art students in various regions across Texas.

Students were challenged to create and submit an original art piece - either two or three-dimensional - that honored a teacher or paid tribute to the teaching profession. Judges from each region evaluated the student artwork and selected winners to receive a $1,000 scholarship and a $500 scholarship to be applied to their higher education upon graduation from high school.

These two students from SHS were selected as the winners for region 14! Natalie Reid won $1,000 for her entry and Kinsey Kelley won $500 for her entry. Mrs. Tiner, Snyder High School Art Teacher said, "I am super proud of these girls and so excited that they won some scholarship money."

Join us in congratulating these students and in celebrating World Teachers' Day! What a wonderful tribute!
